Playing a Six NPC Party

I read a comment in another thread about somebody playing through the game with 6 NPCs in order to have more banters over the course of the game. They mentioned deleting the protagonist to enable this, and I assume that entails starting a Mutiplayer game. I think this sounds like a novel play experience, so I would like to try it, but I thought I'd make sure to ask if this is the correct means of doing so, and if there are any other side-effects I should be wary of over the course of a protagonist-less playthrough. Thanks in advance for your input!

    I thought this was achieved through having debug mode enabled and using some of the command cheats to dismiss the PC.

    Perhaps Jaheira killed the evil protagonist and had her party defeat sarevok by themselves =D

    Or Xzar and Montaron killed you for the reward...
