Nabassu cult battle question? (Spoiler)

So I finally beat the damn thing without losing any of my party....then my main character turns into a ghoul and I'm screwed....how do you avoid that happening?

I was about to post a similar topic. I assume there's some sort of gaze attack going on, but having a party member randomly die and turn into a ghast seems to happen even when Aec'Letec is immobilized or newly dead, and I can't seem to find anything in the combat log explaining why.

Yeah it's the gaze attack. You get a special icon on your portrait. If you go into the character record it says "Dying" or something. So, a character who has that de-buff on him is doomed to die. So if your main char gets it, you need to reload. I can't recall if NPCs can be resurrected after.

(I haven't played EE yet, but I suspect what I said is still true)

One way of handling it may be to summon loads of critters to take the brunt of his attack, keeping your characters (relatively) safe.

Dispel magic I believe stops the effect.

Dispel magic can remove it, aye. Also things that protect from gaze attacks, such as potion of mirrored eyes, will also stop his death gaze. Usually the battle can be handled by occupying Aec'Letec with some summons while killing off the cultists, timing the mirrored eyes potions well, watching carefully for that particular debuff, and keeping a few dispels on hand just in case.

HELLYES!! I have Yeslick with the mace that stuns...he got lucky and stunned the thing, and I proceeded to melee him to death while my mages fire balled his home boys! Finished the battle with almost no damage taken! This is my proudest BG moment folks!!

I use greater malison then start pelting them cultists with fireballs.
    So satisfying.
With dispel magic memorized, you just have to make sure your dispeller has free action so he/she doesn't get held :o

Potions of magic blocking will also clear the effect if you don't have a dispel magic handy. I would wait a few rounds and then use it so you don't use it once and immediately get hit with the same effect.

There's also the rather rare Potion of Magical Protection or whatever it's called. 50% reduction in magic damage is nice, but it also guarantees that you pass *all* saves whilst it's active, making it perfect for anything with a Save or X.

Yep - Potion of Magic Shielding.

If you have a person affected by that gaze attack after the demon is dead, just kill the character off and goto a temple and ressurect them. The effect will be gone and your character will be normal.

This works well...except where the affected character is the Charname as in the original post!
