A backstab with the special wolfie-killing silver dagger, I presume? That's a priceless screenie. And it's made even more delicious by the fact that Skie is considered a not-so-great NPC.
You were still lucky with the critical hit. Still, I didn't know Skie had such a hatred for wolfweres. My Bounty Hunter used traps to defeat him. I had never done the island before, so I didn't realise that the battle was supposed to be hard until I looked on the forum. Maybe single classed thieves are just too powerful for one lycanthropic island to handle.

You presumed correctly. Stats wise, I think Skie is the best NPC thief in the game, better than Imoen. The only way Imoen is better is if you dual her to a mage, which I didn't do.

Skie was level 10. If I didn't raise the XP cap, she would have been at it. And I also lured the wolfweres down to the lower level a couple at a time so I didn't have to fight the giant group at once. By the time it was Karoug's turn, he was alone and I made short work of him. Nobody in my party took a single hit or lost a single hit point in that battle.

But... Imoen has better stats in everything at strengh, which is lower by 2 points, and dex which is equal. All that changes is 20 pounds of carrying capacity >_>
I don't think there's anything wrong with using whatever characters you like, of course, but saying Skie has better stats is a bit of a stretch...
@Mechalibur How are Skie's thief points distributed? Imoen and Skie might be better suited at different tasks. @Awong124 Sounds like a reliable way to fight him. I've yet to take him on in a fair fight, so I wouldn't really know how hard he is. I should say that I didn't mean to imply that you needed luck to win the fight, just to win the fight in such a spectacular way.

It depends I guess. If you use them both as archers, then Imoen's better because she has an extra point of CON. But if you use them as melee, then Skie is potentially better because I gave Skie the Buckler that gives +1 to CON so that evened out (giving Imoen the buckler make's no difference), and Skie's slightly better as a pack mule because of her higher STR.

I don't remember how her skills are distributed. I reset all her skills and proficiencies with Shadowkeeper and redistributed them as I saw fit. And I don't take any offense to people saying I need luck or something like that. I would have probably still beat him without too much trouble in a fair fight, but I always look for the easiest (cheesiest) way to win any battle short of all-out cheating.
