Early Tomes?

When you get out of Candlekeep, are there tomes you can get immediately at level one(specifically the constitution tome)? Just wanna know if it's possible.

This is a non-spoiler thread, so I'll just say no. It will take some time to get to it, and no way you'll be level one. But a big non-spoiler, the hit point bonus is retro-active; so if you're 5th level with a 15 constitution, when you read the book and gain a point, you WILL get 5 hit points.

Just to add, you can technically get the cha tome at lvl 1, and while you can get to the con tome at lvl 1, it would require a bit of sneaking to get it and still survive. But like atcDave said, there's no reason not to wait.

If you're a Cleric then you should be able to Sanctuary yourself past any enemies and open containers and doors in absolute safety. If you're a Cleric/Thief, then you should be able to disarm any traps on your way.

Betwixt the two, you should indeed be able to get all the tomes that are not exclusive to later game chapters as early as level 1. Other class combinations may need a tad more support.

Charisma and Con can both be gotten immediately, though it does require you know where they are and have the skills or items to get them. The Con one can be pretty tough though if you don't know what you're doing.

    Plus there are now traps.

They're still not bad, 1 potion of magic shielding was enough to just run through them all, grab the stuff, drink another potion of invis and get the hell out of Dodge.

So instead of 2 invis potions, you need 2 and a magic shielding.
