Is there a way to save Minsc?

H0RSEH0RSE Member Posts: 115
So I just arrived at the Gnoll Stronghold....and Minsc decided to turn on my party for taking to long to help him. It doesn't matter which savegame I load, I will not have enough in-game time to get to the stronghold without him turning on me. My question is this:

1. Is there a way to avoid fighting him (hack or otherwise) to get him to re-join your party.
2. Is there a way to hack the in-game timer, to give me enough time to do the quest for Minsc?
3. Is there absolutely anything else (don't care if I have to hack the game) that I can do to save him?

If I am unable to help him, I don't even think I'm gonna finish the game.

You might have enough time to save Dynaheir if you use the CLUA to teleport there ; CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR5100")

If you don't have enough time, I'd just try spawning another Minsc and disposing of the other one. I did this fix a few years ago, pretty sure you can reset the actual timer somehow but I think it's simpler to Move to Area or spawn another minsc with CLUA.

    Hopefully that works

Are you on ipad or PC?
If you're on PC, just use the CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("ar5100") from a save in which he isn't yet pissed off. Shouldn't be a problem then. I'll double check the area code right now.

    EDIT: ninja'd

Just leave Minsc in previous map, save the witch and go get him back.

He is not that important to the overall plot.

It matters not. I had full intention of playing the whole game Minsc.

    1. Yes. As suggested, you can teleport to the stronghold before the fight occurs. Kill him before he starts turning on you and re-spawn him. Or drop him from party, save Dynahire and return to him. However, leaving him and then returning with Dynahire him will result in him whining about not being able to save Dynahire himself.
    2. Yes. Using ShadowKeeper, go to "global variables" and change "HELPMINSC" from 1 to 0. This will reset the timer.
    3. You might be able to manually edit a file somewhere...

    1. Enabling the CLUA Console

    C:\User\My Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition
Open up the Baldur.ini with a text editor. I suggest ConTEXT as its free and will also enable you to easily edit scripts too.

Add these lines 'Program Options', 'Debug Mode', '1', You can put it right at the top if you like

    CREATE TABLE options (
    section string,
    name string,
    value string
    );
    INSERT INTO options ROWS (
    'Program Options', 'Debug Mode', '1',
**NOTE** If you are having trouble getting Vista/7/8 to recognise or keep your changes... try either changing the system permissions on the INI file, or another method is to copy out the INI file to your desktop (or wherever), make your edits then save. Verify they are in there, then drop back into your Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition folder and 'replace' the existing one.

Start up your game and either create a new game or load a save. Hit Ctrl+Space.

Yeah you can also Dire Charm him when he turns hostile

but I'm quite sure you need the CLUA console enabled to Ctrl + Q somebody
