Paladin dual-class and other unusual combinations

AshendilAshendil Member Posts: 56
I have played BG many times before and so I am thinking about doing something unusual. I have started a game as an undead hunter (wanted to play a black guard after seeing Dorn in action when playing a different character, but then the undead hunter seemed interesting), but I am still thinking about giving the guy a twist.
As I have played the BG games many times already I have no problem with bending the rules (using shadowkeeper) a bit now, so... has anyone experience with e.g. a Paladin dualed to a thief? Or maybe to a sorcerer or something like that?
A Sorcerer/Kensai came to mind as well.
Also... I have already toyed around a bit and made my Undead Hunter an Elf instead of a human (got the idea when I noticed that Dorn should not be a Paladin). What still bothers me though is that he is Lawful Good as I would rather play as Neutral Good (seeing as lawful and good are two atributes that sometimes can come in conflict with eachother).

So, if you have any thoughts/tips/opinions/suggestions on these matters, I would appreciate them.

To the best of my knowledge Shadowkeeper only supports the same multi/dual classing as the Infinity Engine – thus sadly no Paladin/Sorcerers

Unfortunately, you are right. Just checked. Also, it seems my elven Paladin does not get the bonus elves get with some types of swords. It does get displayed in the new inventory screen, but in the end is left out of the calculation it seems.

That's because racial bonuses are added as effects
You have to add it manually if you want it

The one thing that shadowkeeper can do is change out a class that you picked legitimately at character creation for a kit. So you could add a kit to a multiclass for example. Not sure if you can add more than one kit though as I've never experimented with that particular feature myself.

Nah, there's only 1 kit slot...which is actually legit, since some Complete Guides do allow taking kits for multi-class, but only 1 (same for dual's, having to maintain a kit's special training for it's bonus prevents taking another kit since it's just too much to juggle).

And technically Specialists (excluding wild mages which are a kit) are supposed to be an entirely separate class from plain mages, rather then a kit. But a specialist can't also have a mage kit because their specialization would prevent it, however it's totally legit for a dual-class to have a kit in one class then dual into a specialist mage (Multiclass can't unless they're a gnome as fighter multi's are specifically not allowed to take a kit, and only gnomes could be a specialist mage multi...you could however make a Swashbuckler/Illusionist gnome multiclass which WOULD be legit, since the Complete thief guide does allow multiclass part-thieves to use thief kits.
