Baldur's Gate: Non-Interactive Demo & Graphics Test

WardWard Member Posts: 1,305
I wanted to know if anyone had these good old things sitting around on their hard drives somewhere. I can't download it from Fileplanet (that website is going down and nothing is working).

I just remember how awesome it was. I actually thought the quality of the 3D animations was better than in the complete game. It's nice to see Viconia before she was a drow and didn't and an I in her name. Ajantis only had one cry then, FOR THE GLORY OF HELM!

Could somebody link me to em? Much obliged.

Can it be the first file on this webpage, perchance?

Found a download link that actually works.

Also, I totally want the Baldur's Gate comic shown on Planet Baldur's Gate.

I'm actually more hoping this comic will ever be finished (or started, really, introduction's all I found, scattered over half a dozen sites)

    @AndreaColombo

None of the downloads on Planet BG work, I can't download off Fileplanet either. When I try to download from Fileplanet I get http documents which can't be 'saved as'. x(

Oh wow, it contains a voice-acted line by Xan not in the final game! And a very funny one at that! This just made my day.

Wow, this is really cool! I checked youtube and there is a low 480p version of it up. I just frapsed it in 1080p, if anyone wants to see watch it. (EDIT: Youtube doesn't want to upscale the vid above 480p... even though I Frapsed and saved the video to 1080p, doh!)

Different music, some spell effects and voice overs. Nice!

    Coming summer 1998. =]

Link to the vid is: http://youtu.be/cVCTmSc3go4 as soon as it finished processing.

I love that recolored ogre animation!

Xan was wearing a suit of armor :) His spoken line should totally be restored as a line that is randomly spoken by Xan while outdoor with the rain weather effect going: that would be awesome!

I remember playing that on my brand new Bondi iMac, 233Mhz, 32 megs of ram, 2 megs vram. Glorious!

BG and Fallout were the kings of RPGs.

The ogres look fantastic in this demo Andrea, it's a shame they redid them.

It'd be nice if as a bonus feature BGEE came with the original version of the game engine, assuming there's enough of it to play around a little. Imagine going through Candlekeep in the pre 1998 BG. Epic.

Come on, at the very least put this demo in the goody bag dudes.

    My Impressions from the Demo:

    1. Notice that Imoen knew Magic.

    2. Im glad they didnt keep the electricity sound, its horrible.

    3. Im glad they didnt keep the Gibberlings sound, its horrible.

    4. Im glad they didnt keep the burning hand/cone of cold sound, its horrible. :)

    5. Thats one hell of a fire ball in the gnolls sronghold.

At the of the video the critics wrote:

Computer & Net PLAYER: "...This could very well be one of the biggest RPG's of the year" - Later BG1 become one of the biggest RPG's Ever

OGR.Com: "...could be the definitive RPG until the turn of the milenium.." - Later BG1 become THE definitive RPG :-)
