How much do you want for a copy shipped to Italy? =P

Funny how the comic tried to integrate the BG characters into the 'story' (err...too many decapitations for my taste). Tiax dying was all in good fun though.

The plot could make for a good mini-quest, rescuing a kidnapped bride and her dowry from hobgoblins. I must admit, I never saw Eldoth as a backstabbing psychopath, he's more of a lovable rogue.

Well, he was Neutral Evil, not Neutral Loveable...he always struck me as a bastard, though maybe not the 'stabbing a young lady in the stomach for a few coins' bastard.

Still, funny comic, with way too much namedropping. And not as bad as the books...

Was this ever published or did it remain digital?
  • AndreaColomboAndreaColombo Member Posts: 5,533
@Wonderboy2402 - according to Planet Baldur's Gate, the comic was "handed out at the E3 as well as included in certain magazine subcriptions", so it was actually published.

We do not speak about the BG novels.
Is that the first and second rules of BG novels?

@smeagolheart - I believe @Akerhon was asking whether only one issue of the Baldur's Gate comic was ever released.

@Akerhon - sì, era solo un oggetto promozionale di poche pagine (e a onor del vero, neanche un granché). Io lo voglio solo perché sono invasato duro con i collectibles e le riguardanti Baldur's Gate.

The novels are an insult to the game!

Is it true that Eldoth can betray the party similiar to the comic? i read somewhere that the comic was actually based on an in-game experience, not sure if it was true.

It might have been based on a dropped quest; there's nothing that really matches it ingame. The NPCs are generally fairly bland and boring beyond their acks (lines when selected, ordered to do something, ect) and what sometimes seems almost obligitary infter-party conflict. I believe the reason for so many npcs (compared to Baldur's Gate II) is a high casualty rate-by extension, a brisky party member turnover rate-was expected. Furthermore, Eldoth is (quite clearly, in my opinion) manipulating a naive young woman in an attempt to marry into comfort or at least get his claws in to bleed her white for her family's fortune.

...Why did those abominations have to be created?

We need a good author to write a proper "Baldur's Gate novel".

They had to be created to make the Bhaalspawn saga canon Forgotten Realms lore.

Oh, and to make money. And possibly to ruin our childhoods.

Hell, a semi-passable author would do. There's already a great story, interesting characters, a natural character arc... all the leg work has been done.
