Viconia, Ankheg Plate?

All, I'm playing my first evil party and I put the Nashkel Ankheg plate on Viconia, but her AC only goes from 5 (Dex + Shield) to 4. Did anyone have an idea why?

    Sorry about that... 4 is displayed on the inventory screen, but -4 is displayed on the record screen.
