Problem with backstab

Hello friends! I'm having a little issue, 'd you like to help me please? Im soloing bg2 + tob with a dual figther/thief char. In the first box the STAFF OF MAGI, in the second box a long sword. Ok, so, im invisibility at the back of an enemy and change the weapon to the long sword i lost the invisibility before i can backstab it. If i don't remember when you change the weapon the invisibility last one round.. right? any suggest? THANKS!!!!

    It seems logical to me that as soon as you unequip the weapon that gives you invisibility, you lose the invisibility.

    I agree with u, unequipping staff of magi should still give you that 6 seconds window.

    But since your Character is F/T, and you would be in fairly high level, you could simply hide in shadows once you are invisible, provided you have raised enough stealth skills.

    indeed! yes i have max hide in shadows points but i really don't like be invisible have to run away from enemy hide in shadows come back and then backstab and do it all over again. If anyone know i'd looooove to know how to fix this. I want my round of invisibility back.

    Meh, if the Staff of magi was intended to be used for cheesy backstabs, you could just backstab with it straight up...but it can't. That or they need to change the weapon to give so many castings of invisibility per day, rather then invisibility on equip.

    Try changing weapon on the inventory screen that works with weapon switching while stealthed.

    nop the same, everytime i change the staff of magi from the inventry o from de main screen the invisibility goes off and don't give me 1 round of backstab. don't know what to do

    Honestamente, de lo que me acuerdo, el Staff of the Magi nunca te dejo invisible por suficiente tiempo despues de cambiar armas para backstab.

    Si te interesa, te acabo de modificar el file para que te mantengas invisible despues de cambiar armas. Es definitivamente OP, pero aqui esta.

    Ponlo en tu override. Lo hice usando una instalacion "vanilla" de BG2, pero podria haber un problema: tu tienes dialogf.tlk y yo hice este file usando el dialog.tlk del juego ingles. Honestamente, no se si usan los mismo string references, entonces installar este file podria cambiar las descripcion del SotM dramaticamente, o podria funcionar sin ningun problema. Todovia deberia funcionar, pero te digo para que sepas.

    Si causa algun problema, delete staf11.itm de tu override. Si te frega la descripcion, dime y te puedo ensenar como cambiarlo manualmente por tu lado.

    La otra opcion es cambiar el SotM para que sea usable por ladrones. Si hago eso, podrias backstab con el SotM.


    EDIT: Perdoname mi castellano terible. Mis papas son peruanos, per yo naci y sigo viviendo en gringolandia. Enzima mi teclada no tiene ni acentos ni tilda, y no quise poner el esfuerzo de ponerlos manualmente. :)

    Oh, once you equip staff of magi and you become invisible you can hide straight away, don't have to run out of sight of the enemies since technically enemies can't see you. It's a bit complex, but the sequence is like,

    1.equip staff of magi
    2. Hide
    3. Get behind the enemy
    4. Change the weapon
    5. 5 seconds to land a backstab
    6. If not landed simply go to step 1 and repeat.

    It's very, very cheesy tactic, BTW...

    I know! But can't hide if there're enemys on screen!!!!!

    You're right! I've just tested with BGEE and yes, when u select weapon invisibility wears off. What I used to, I remember now, is that as soon as I equip staff of magi I would immediately hide outside the sight of the enemy so that when I choose different weapon I still have 5 seconds to land a backstab. Another thing i did was to cast invisibility spell once i equipped staff of magi then even i equip backstabbing weapon my invisibility wouldn't wear off.
