what kind of stupid NPC is shoal the nereid?

in Archive (General Discussion)
i talked to her and she killed my main... so i had to reload and tried to talk to her with another one of my party members (because thats what i read in the internet somewhere) but then i get the message that she doesnt have anything to say... SO i need to attack her WITH MY MAIN OFF SCREEN BEFORE EVER TALKING TO HER to get her to talk to one of my other party members to start a quest... what kind of stupid questdesign is this?

    Oh, I see. Well, I googled a bit and found this information:

    "Talk to Shoal, who will ask for your help, ensuring the nominated spokesman is not your main character. She will then kiss that party member. The kiss will kill the recipient. Attack her until she talks to you again. She will restore your companion in exchange for helping her by killing an Ogre Mage. You can agree or kill her. If you agree your dead companion will return so re-equip them. The Ogre Mage will appear. Kill him. Talk to Shoal afterwards."

    Also, on the site the rewards for either killing Shoal or helping her are mentioned, but I left those out for spoiler reasons. Just check the link if you wish to know. :)

    i completed the quest... i am evil so i killed her and raised my companion at the temple... damn slagbucket

    the thing is i wasnt able to use a different party member to talk to her... i had to attack her first

    Well, if you were looking for an experience boost, that was the way to go. :p

    The quest is a bit of a 'give or take' thing. There are both positives and negatives involved. Nothing all too dramatic, though. Have fun playing! :)

    If you help her, the Orge mage that appears has a very nice magic helm. You can get xp for killing the mage, helping Shoal + if your evil you can still quickly kill here before she leaves.

    har har i was wondering if that is possible :) i remember her being kinda tough though so killing her quickly might be a problem :P

    Actually if you let her rez your guy, then kill her as the Ogre Mage approaches, he'll try to kill you for killing his favourite toy. Win/Win.

    you don't even have to let her kill a guy (since the quest is bugged) i just attacked her from the start and she immediately jumped to the lines when she gives up

    I don't think killing her is strictly an evil thing to do. Sure she was under the Ogre Mages control (is that even true? There is no shawl on his body) but I don't think she minded having to kill you. Only after the she gets hurt does she no longer find it "fun" to kill random adventurers. It's not unlikely that she was his mate willingly and just sold him out to save her own skin.
