Do you prefer the big city, a smaller town, a village - or the great outdoors? Where on the Sword Coast would you live if you could choose?

    Durlag's Tower
Once me and my band of merry dwarfs clear it out of course.

    or Candlekeep.

I'll join Drugar in the Tower. We'll clean it up of traps, monsters, and demons, then refurbish it and live there happily.

Seriously, the place is pretty stylish.

Yup, Candlekeep. Free access to all the knowledge, magical and otherwise, of everywhere, and the fact that, completely untrained, I've a good chance of taking down almost any dangers that might emerge there is a very nice bonus.

I'd have my own place in the Friendly Arm, reserved for me for eternity, so I can have a place to return to from my adventures and have some rest :) Would be a nice place to meet a lot of interesting people too.

But if I would settle down, then maybe I'd join the rest of the people of this forum on Candlekeep.

baldurs gate probably has the best night out, lots of places to eat, culture etc

i get the feeling if i lived out in the smaller towns my career prospects would be quite limited and i'd end up working in an inn or "the streets", which might actually might turn out quite well. i don't think i've seen any male courtesans in the game...

Big cities are too loud for me, but I'm too lazy to live in the wilderness and hunt my food and all. So a smaller place, but with some taverns and stores, will do fine.

Beregost seems like the safest place to be in the event of catastrophic evil entities rising on the Sword Coast; first of all, nobody ever wants to take over Beregost. So you're golden there.

But also, if someone does think about it, you've got a 17th-level wizard and a master armsman who both have declared the town to be under their protection. Don't tell me that's not a coincidence. :)

Baldur's Gate would be nice, but the crime that takes place there is so much worse than the crime that takes place in any real-world city, and I wouldn't want to take my chances with angry wizards running about.

Baldur's Gate is the most interesting. I would love to live close to the Thieve's Guild, I love the shackled-together houses. Or maybe have a permanent residence over one of the taverns/inns.

Suldanessellar or Candlekeep or Kuldahar. I also want a house in one of the big cities like Baldur's Gate or Amn. If I had Boots of the North, then one of the ten towns of Icewind Dale would be nice. The more I think about it, the more cool places pop up in my head. Give me teleport and the exact place will not matter that much.

P.S. I know Suldanessellar and Kuldahar are not on the Sword Coast.

I can't seem to recall this wizard and master armsman you're talking about.
EDIT: Is it Thalantyr? Who's the other one?

Thalantyr is the wizard; Taerom Fuiruim is the armsman.

Of course, Taerom's not anywhere near as powerful as Thalantyr--he's only level 5--but he's still handy in a fight, especially considering that he lives in a house filled with weapons.

I am Thalantyr, mighty mage of Beregost!

Why do I live in such a pissant town?

Between him and Taerom Fuiruim, the master smith guy, it's pretty well covered.

Hmm, well I wouldn't take the fact that nobody wants to work a market that's bound to have clients as a good omen really, in fact to me that screams "do not do this". Still, to each their own.

I chose Baldur's Gate, but Candlekeep would probably suit me too, unless it turns out ol' Winthrop really is as dirty as it would appear he is. Him and his elven arses.

There is also a level 11 Wizard and a level 16 Cleric, they may not have said that the city is under their protection but I doubt the Cleric will stand idly by and the Wizard might want to protect his home.
