Splitting up items

Can anyone tell me how to achieve this? I have been unable to fathom it out yet

    The trick is not to do it quickly but touch the IPad twice at the same place.

    To practice this "twice touch", do it on the map. If you don't touch twice at the same place you will be able to see it because the square view will move and if you succeed you will be back to the game where you touched.
    You can also use this "twice touch" on a character's portrait to center the view on this character

    pain in butt - just takes practice - not quick double tap but EXACTLY the same spot... ;)

    Don't lift your finger very far. The closer you can keep it to the screen between taps the more likely you are to tap in the same spot again.
