How to make bags bottomless

LiggLigg Member Posts: 187
Hi,
I got the scroll case from Firebead. It is bag03.itm. It currently only holds 20 scrolls. I searched around with Near Infinity and the only thing I can see that's might be linked to this is a store file bag03.sto. I changed the capacity in the sto file form 20 to 200 but this had no effect on the scroll case when playing. Did I miss something?

thanks

You need to make this change before you get the item in your save game. Otherwise it's now in your save game with the 20 limit and nothing you change in the STO file will apply until you restart a game, or from a save game before you got the item.
Alternatively, with Near Infinity, you can also edit the .SAV file in your save game (after unpacking it) so that you can edit the BAG03.STO file inside the save game. In this case, your change will apply. Remember to repack the .SAV file after you edit.

Thanks. That explains a lot. I will live with it - until another game.

Could he cluaconsole the case into his inventory then drop the old version?

    Easiest way:

    http://www.baldurdash.org/SoAtweaks/BG2GebhardBlucher'sBottomlessBagOfHolding.zip

Unzip to override folder. There are different bag types for bag of holding, you just need to use console to summon differen bags. Try BAG19A-BAG19E, BAG20-BAG31.

No. The storage capability is within the STO file associated with the item. Once a STO structure is in your save game, you'll never remove it without deep editing with Near Infinity. You'd better change the storage capability in this case. ;-)
If you get rid of the item, you won't be able to access what's stored within, but it will remain in the save game until you recover the item that allows access to it.

@Ligg, since you're tweaking with Near Infinity, you may as well duplicate BAG03.ITM and BAG03.STO and name them BAG03A.ITM and BAG03A.STO, for instance (I don't know if the name already exists, check and change if needed). Change the storage capability in BAG03A.STO. Them add BAG03A.ITM to your inventory as you please (console, Near Infinity, Shadow Keeper, whatever). Move your stuff in the new bag and get rid of the old one.

Thanks. I should have guessed that store files are saved with each game. After all these files change as you play, depending on what you buy and sell.
