How to use the console?

I have no idea what I'm doing with this thing, every time I type in a command I just get a long list of gibberish starting with "debug dump". Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

    I think you need to be a bit clearer on what you've been doing. For example did you change the baldur.ini file and how?
    What lines did you use in the console?

    First step is to locate baldur.ini file.
    It is in documents/baldur's gate/
    open it up using wordpad (easiest because of the way the file is set up)
    insert the line ('Program Options', 'Debug Mode', '1',) without the ( ) in the section of program options.
    Save the file and open the game.
    Here is a list of cluaconsole commands that may have changed a bit because it is now BGEE.

    Like say I was trying to use "CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR2301")" to move to Friendly Arm (or at least thats what I think I'm trying to do), instead of that it appears nothing happens and I get a long message of values and random information.

    Could you copy in the section of baldur.ini where you put in the line just to make sure there was no mistake there? It does seem like the cluaconsole line was correct.
    If you are using windows system I'm hoping that you are using "ctrl+space" to open up the console?

    Nope, that's what I was doing wrong, thank you very much...I am an idiot >.<
