'Modern' mode.

I'm a fan of Baldurs Gate and I can't deny that it's probably my favourite game of all time. Here's the problem though: So few people of my age (17) actually have the kahoonies to play an RPG that doesn't bend over the table for you. They're used to games that they believe to be hard... like Skyrim or Kingdoms of Amalur.

I love Baldurs Gate, an enhanced edition is a dream come true. I've wished for years this would come about and now that it is I'm squealing like a piggy; but for once I'd like to be able to converse with people of my age about it.
How about a mode that just makes it a fair bit easier? I love slugging it out with the difficulty slider at the hardest possible (except for the caves straight after Candlekeep Catacombs, those give me nightmares until this day). It would really allow some more modern day gamers to step in and enjoy the Sword Coast that we enjoyed, albeit a little bit softer.

The first thing to me would be to revise the horrible tutorial :)
But I do not thing it is necessary to provide another difficulty setting, and, if I understand you well, I agree that some points should be better designed toward accessibility.
I think 'modern' is 'accessible' and not 'easy'.

That would probably make it easier, but I enjoyed the tutorial as it really helped immerse me and it wasn't intrusive. Maybe a handbook or something that explained the fundamentals. I bet the way AC works caught a lot of people (myself included) off-guard.

I still think that the tutorial can be changed without breaking the immersion. And come on, several greeny guys waiting in the middle of a town ? ^^

But a build-in player guide would be nice, like Civ V for example (in an other register)

Hey, I could cut them to death with my longsword! That's immersion, not many games let you shank the guy giving you the tutorial.

We will have to start an 'Iron Man' Insane Difficulty, no-reload Club ;)

@Space_hamster: I think that would be a good Idea.

I don't think we'll ever see someone finish BG with that. Well, not within the next two years at least.

I think it's possible if you hide in the back and send everyone else to do all the work.

For veterans it should be doable. I'm not sure how fun it would be, but definitely challenging. ;)

I think it would involve a lot of running....away!
