Baldur's Gate-like Sprites

My brother and I were wanting to design some new sprites to be used in the mod we are making but we can't find a good tutorial or at least some pointers on how to make a good Baldur's Gate-like pixel sprite. Does anyone here have any suggestions or resources I could look into? Thanks
