Odd Behavior - Talking to NPCs via the "talk" icon

Started a new game since patch 1.0.2012. Have just reached Naskhel with my party of Khalid/Jaheira, Xzar/Monty, and Garrick. On a whim I used the talk icon to force-talk to my party members. I remembered getting odd behavior doing this on my last playthrough (1.0.2011).
Most of my party members had "nothing to say to me." When talking to Montaron though, he says "And good riddance to yer bad rubbish! I suggest ye sleep with one eye open from now on. Come wizard! I'll not miss yer inevitable death by leavin' ye behind!"
Montaron and Xzar then proceed to leave my party.
My reputation is fine and I just loaded up an earlier save in chapter 1 and had the same results.
Current Behavior: Out of place dialogue when force-talking to NPC's occasionally.
Expected Behavior: NPC's should always say "NPC has nothing to say to you."
