About the looks of Aasimar

I figure when subraces come out, Aasimar and Tiefling are coming with it (Don't tell me they're not because they are LALALLALALALALALALALALALALALA *puts fingers in ears*). I was wondering if someone could tell me, not only how to post a pic directly here, but also generally what they look like...

Plz...

Well... Aasimar from what I know of look pretty much like regular humans...

Tieflings on the other hand... Vary from looking quite demonic to being pretty much humans with horns.

Aasimar look exactly like humans, some may have hair or eye color that is a bit odd, white or silver hair, skin has a golden tint, etc, but for the most part they are indistinguishable from humans.

Nice bit of info on their looks at that link. Plus, yay Aasimar. I always loved that race ever since my first Planescape campaign.

@Lifat EXACTLY. If they're not added, so be it, but I figure that there's enough want for the developers to actually add it, and they have hinted that they might in certain twitter or "that other" site that I figure they actually will.

It's just me reading between the lines, albeit I could be totally wrong LMAO XD

An example of a tiefling is Hear'Dalis from BG2. Aasimar look like humans but their skin is paler(I just made that up but is seems logical).

    Epic lalala for sure.

    TIEFLINGS FTW ;P !!!

No two tieflings look alike; the fiendish blood running through their veins manifests inconsistently, granting them an array of fiendish traits. One tiefling might appear as a human with small horns, a barbed tail, and oddly colored eyes, while another might manifest a mouth of fangs, tiny wings, and claws, and yet another might possess the perpetual smell of blood, foul incenses, and brimstone. Typically, these qualities hearken back in some way to the manner of fiend that spawned the tiefling's bloodline, but even then the admixture of human and fiendish blood is rarely ruled by sane, mortal laws, and the vast flexibility it produces in tieflings is a thing of wonder, running the gamut from oddly beautiful to utterly terrible.

I think it's fairly obvious to all concerned that *IF* they add sub-races then Tieflings and Aasimar will be included. It would be kinda silly not to.

The question is whether tieflings and aasimar can be represented using existing paper dolls - drow would be easy enough, just take an elf and give it black skin and white hair, but how would you get the horns on a tiefling?

You probably don't. They'll likely just use the default human model or the elf model (I think) like HaerDalis does.

Honestly, easiest way would be to just use the closest paperdoll to the sub-race and then give it custom colors. No way they can make all the pixels and animations (well, OK, they could, but the work would be immense) for all the new sub-races. I suppose in the Tiefling and Aasimar's case, they could use 1 Pixel Productions wings and add the demonic ones to Tieflings, and the angelic ones to Aasimar, and just use the elven paperdoll for them with new colors.

I'd be fine with 'just' new colors if it brings playable stuff like Tieflings, Aasimar, Moon Elves, and duergar.

The physical traits of Aasimars in AD&D vary just as much as tieflings thanks to the AD&D Warriors of Heaven sourcebook. Both them and genasi aren't limited to human parents either and may just as well be of dwarven, orcish or any other demihuman heritage.

    Table 2: Aasimar Appearance
    silvery skin,
    green-tinted skin,
    blue-tinted skin,
    golden skin,
    pointed ears,
    ridged ears,
    doglike ears,
    angular face with high cheekbones,
    perfect white teeth,
    long, distinguished nose,
    hooked nose,
    crystal-blue eyes,
    bright green eyes,
    gleaming silver eyes,
    golden eyes,
six fingers per hand (icluding thumb),
fingers one inch longer than normal,
    animal horns on head,
    silver or gold fingernails,
    long, slender arms,
    long, slender legs,
    feathered wings,
    vestigial wingbones on shoulders,
    opalescent skin,
    body covered with speckled markings,
    bald and hairless,
small feathers rather than hair on the body.

    The Pathfinder SRD provides a d100 list of physical features of Aasimar;
    http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/featured-races/arg-aasimar

    About two-thirds down the page.
Roll a d100 (or two, or three) and there you have your looks.

By the way, horns and other demonic features are not compulsory on Tieflings. There may be other traits present, or even "invisible" changes such as a sulphurous smell or a "bad vibrations" aura around them. 3E FRCS says so ;)

A PC being overly demonic in appearance wouldn't fit well with the established storyline, too many interactions wouldn't make sense. I think that, if the PC is going to be a Tiefling, it would be assumed that their appearance would only be subtly altered from that of an ordinary human.
  • KaltzorKaltzor Member Posts: 1,050
Well, the main character, Bhaal is a god, so that I think would place the Bhaalspawn closer to Aasimar I think, unless you argue that being an evil god makes him count more as a fiend which would make them more Tieflings...

OKAY so would this work for an Aasimar if I edited it up a bit?

I think it is fairly obvious from these that Tieflings are bustier than just about any other race. LOL
