12 suggestions to improve gameplay, longevity and immersion

1. Combine both BG1 and BG 2 into the same interface, so we only need to interract with one shortcut and one ui.

2. Make the transition from BG 1 to BG 2 seamless. Once you finish the first game, some new loadingscreen emerges, and you are taken onward to BG 2.

3. Make the game downloadable via Steam (!)

4. Include the BG-tactics mod as an option in the game-settings.

5. When viewing the character screen, include information on how many times that character have re-rolled their stats. This will be the easiest solution to prevent endless rerolling in environments that care.

6. If possible, add graphic for cloaks when equipped.

7. If possible, add correct hairstyles to the various characters, as represented in their pictures.

8. If possible, allow us to travel back to BG 1 from BG 2 ingame.

9. Include the whole spell-selection from BG 2 in BG 1.

10. Add more varied animations to combat, and melee combatants in particular.

11. Add random events. Nothing adds to the longevity of a game like BG as random events, some of which could be rare. As an example, there could be a 1% chance every time you go from Beregost to the Arm's Inn that a merchant is selling a few good magical items along the way, or that you are ambushed by wild elves.

12. The most awesome in the world would be to have Waterdeep or Calimport as a new area, even as time consuming as making it would be :)

I hope this can be somewhat useful!

EDIT:

13. Make sure mods work platform-independantly (in my case on OSX).

This would be awesome, it would effectively turn the BG saga into one huge game.

    6. If possible, add graphic for cloaks when equipped.

    7. If possible, add correct hairstyles to the various characters, as represented in their pictures.
Both of these are probably not possible since the source art is lost in the abyss (although I agree it would be highly schmexy with cloaks, especially for us rangers)
    8. If possible, allow us to travel back to BG 1 from BG 2 ingame.
This would be very cool too, especially if some work could be done to change the old wilderness areas of BG to fit your party's level once you start BG2 (maybe with new side quests etc) - probably too much work for BGEE, but I hear mods are cool...
    10. Add more varied animations to combat, and melee combatants in particular.
Again, animations can't be changed as far as we've been told.
    11. Add random events. Nothing adds to the longevity of a game like BG as random events, some of which could be rare. As an example, there could be a 1% chance every time you go from Beregost to the Arm's Inn that a merchant is selling a few good magical items along the way, or that you are ambushed by wild elves.
This could be done quite easily methinks, and would add alot of excitement to traveling, so yes, totally on board with it!

New areas are being created, only time will tell :) (although I think we should probably assume them to be small-ish and few, there hasn't been enough dev time to create something huge like Waterdeep or other major cities. I think it would be more realistic to think along the lines of the new areas added by TotSC, Ulgoth's beard and the Werewolf island etc. probably about that size, if I may venture a guess)
