do i have to wait another month for the haste bug to be fixed?

KorlamaqKorlamaq Member Posts: 216
im just curious... this seems to be a minor bug that should be easy to fix but it is majorly game breaking for me because i usually play with boots of speed because the game is a bit slow for me otherwise..
for those of you who don't know: when using an item or spell that casts haste on your characters their movements starts to lag which is seriously irritating for me :(

BGEE: I experienced a bug the other day where casting Hasting on someone who had the boots of speed doubled his speed again. At least, I think it was a bug. I'm pretty sure I don't recall that ever happening before.

Haven't had a problem with the game lagging up under the effects of haste though.

Funny how a minor irritation becomes "majorly game breaking". Jesus is this another one of "those" threads?

Each to their own I guess...

I'm really happy for you if it doesn't bother your game play.

I guess there will always be people like this on every forum.

... Until someone starts to say "THIS GAME IS NOT WORTH IT" "BIGGEST SCAM" etc etc...

I hope you guys respect those opinion as well...

.... Right now, I remember someone (gunman?) claiming that APR bug was so game breaking he said Overhaul was not fit for the job etc etc... Then someone else here asked him to leave....

Not to mention there are many haters in steam... I guess forum members here are ok about their rants now...?

Funny how things go around... Here I'm defending Overhaul's decision to fix the ranged weapon bug to counter the argument that this is game breaking... One person rants about APR saying this is so game breaking then another person asks him to leave and then the same person who asked someone to leave says respect others' style of play and he prefers that someone rant... Riiiight...

You're the guy who used to play 30+ hours/week before the said bug right? Then I hope Overhaul is reading this thread, and may they prioritize this. Maybe you can call their attention here and ask for ETA and if the fix would be included? ...and I can't seem to find this in the bug list

EDIT: nice profile pic by the way.;p

    @leeho730 has posted a mod here http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/14852/mod-restore-missile-weapons-attack-per-round-to-before-patch-6

I haven't tried it myself yet, but apparently it should change the ranged weapon APR the way it was before the latest patch.

EDIT: deleted boots of speed mod due to bug that the boots of speed would give immunity to disease as well, and Camdog also argued that boots of speed should stack with haste.

I can recommend @leeho730's patch until next patch comes out. Glancing at it, it seems to fix the problem without major side effects.

If you mean the ETA on @leeho730's mod/patch, I believe it is already out.

He removed the mod because of the other problems it caused.

Given the obnoxious response that Overhaul gets whenever there is a delay, I seriously doubt we'll be seeing any ETAs going forward.

If the game feels slow, you can always increase the framerate by editing the "Maximum Frame Rate" value in baldur.ini.

I recommend 35-40 fps for non-cartoon levels of speed.

(This is in response to the original poster's concern about the game feeling slow, which is a separate issue from the Boots of Speed and Haste not working properly.)

doesnt that also increase the speed of everything else? not just the movement?

Yes; so you'll have to get used to making decisions more quickly. But it will make walking across those big maps a lot more bearable.

It's not a perfect solution, but I've heard of people setting the game to 60fps before; until the next patch is released, it might be a way to make it a bit less "unplayable" for you.

well i am playing right now and trying to get used to my party teleporting around :)
also the speed varies greatly since the patch some of my party members are slower than others for some reason
but you people sound like you know about this problem already and seem to be working on it so i am looking forward to it :)

Individual party members have different movement rates which are impacted significantly by their level of encumbrance.

In a parody of Buck Rogers, Eric Cartman (from South Park) becomes impatient waiting for a new games console so decides to cryogenically freeze himself in mountain snow for about a month so that he can be unfrozen when the console is released. Only problem is people forget about him and he ends up being unfrozen several hundred years in the future...
ah ok :) i dont watch southpark :)

Different mod. He removed the one changing the effects of boots of speed, not the ranged weapon APR one.

Well monks and barbarians have faster movement speed than other characters. Not sure what else would cause characters to move at different speeds.
