Multi class problem

I am playing as a gnome, and want to multiclass kensai/Mage. But in my character profile screen (above the level up bottom), the button says duel class. I've tried creating new characters with other non-human races, same deal, they all say duel class, not multi class, and are obviously permanently greyed out.

Am I missing something? How do I multiclass? Is there some minimum level requirement I am not meeting? My characters stats are 18/27, 18, 18, 19, 8 (wisdom) 8 (charisma)

You can't multiclass with kits
Only humans can dual class
A multiclass can be selected during character selection
