Reduced Attacks Per Round with Slings?

DebaserDebaser Member Posts: 669
Anyone notice this? I had 3/2 attacks per round with Jaheria using slings...pretty much in every game I've ever done.

It's 1 attack now post patch?

Yeah, it's effecting all ranged weapons. They also can't benefit from extra attacks from haste, weapon specializations, or warrior levels 7 and 13.

It's mostly likely a bug, rather then a rebalancing to make things like PnP....in PnP only bows can't benefit from level based or specialization based extra attacks. X-bows get only the level based extra attacks for a total of 2 (like bows). Both should be able to benefit from extra attacks from haste though.

Throwing daggers and darts are supposed to get 1 extra attack instead of a extra half-attack at specialization, GM, and warrior levels 7/13.

Melee weapons and slings benefits from things normally.

    So yeah...also it's known.

But is there any statements from Overhaul if this is intended or a bug? It's a major nerf for ranged in a way, considering it was always dominant in BG1.

Yup, ranged weapons now set your number of attacks to the base for the weapon, without adding attacks from fighter levels or proficiencies. It's the same with all ranged weapons since the patch (darts set it to 3, bows to 2, slings and crossbows to 1 etc).

I don't know if it's been confirmed as a deliberate balance change or a bug though.

There is a mod in the modding section ([mod] Restore missile weapons' attack per round to before patch 6) that you could use to temporarily fix the problem until Overhaul releases the next official patch. I quickly tried it myself yesterday and it seems to be working like it should (you get as many attacks with ranged weapons that you did before the latest official patch).

It has been confirmed as a bug.

I don't I've ever seen a dev put unintentional bugs in their patch notes

It was intended to resolve the Chesley Crusher attack bug, and resulted in all APR setting weapons, which are typically "Ranged" weapons, losing the benefits in the same way.
