Treasure hunting with the tab key.....

I read somewhere that everymap in bg:ee has hidden treasure(ring of wizardy,etc) and was wondering whats the best way to treasure hunt using the tab key?
Do you basically walk round the whole map with the tab button held in?Or do you walk around the map repeatedly hitting the tab button?
Whats everybodies suggestions on finding hidden loot.

    I think hidden loot is no longer hidden with the tab key. I played BG a lot (seriously) ten years ago, and years after when I first visited a BG website I was like "what?? there's is a xxxxx hidden there??"

    yeah its great to find loot hidden from view...i thimk i found a wand of paralyzation without using the tab key....the stone looked special.

    I believe you can also walk the map to reveal it and then just scroll it through with the tab key without actually moving your characters.

    @Bhaaldog: I wouldn't call a Ring of Wizardry or an Ankheg Plate armour 'standard items'...

    Or the Wand of Frost, Cloud Kill scroll etc.

    I have to agree with @Dexter, after so many years it's just great to walk in a location you know as the back of your hand and still find secret niches you did not know they were there when you first played. Right now I ams basically always running around with the Tab button pushed. 15 years ago I didn't even know the tab button actually *did* something (if it really did, didn't they add this feature in TotSC or something?).

    Also there is a fire resist ring hidden

    thanks for the tips everyone...when you say clear the map then walk around with tab pressed....im assuming you press and hold correct?

    Press and hold, or just tap it periodically. I tend to hold it down 99% of the time, but when you suggested hitting tab multiple times (which would make the outlines flash), I thought, "Huh... That might be even more obvious." So you can't really go wrong either way.
