BG:EE character to BG2

Simple question really. I'm almost finished with BG:EE and would like to continue with part 2 of the saga. However, I would like to do so with my current character. Is this possible?

Yes - It is not officially supported, but unless your existing character is a blackguard, you should be able to import them straight into bg2

since BG2 and BG1EE are not linked like BG2 ad BG1 were you have to do some copy and pasting. First, either copy your saved game or export your pc then copy the two files (bio and chr). Then past either the saved game into your BG2 Saved game file or the copied pc files into the BG2 Characters file. Then once you go to create a BG2 game you can import from either saved game or saved character options.

I was able to successfully import to BG2 directly from the saved game. Just had to move the saved game file to the BG2 directory.

I did notice something strange though... shortbow and composite longbow seem to have somehow changed places. Goblins and kobolds are dropping composite longbows where I assume they should be dropping shortbows. Not sure if this is a savegame import issue or a kludged mod in my BG2...

Goblins using composite longbows is a known BG2 "issue" as Goblins do not possess the STR requirement to use that bow.

which means you copied the saved game from BGEE and put it into your BG2 Saved games folder just as I suggested as opposed to importing it directly as was the case with BG2 and BG1 being linked

I'm not sure what you mean by BG1 and BG2 being 'linked'. I'm pretty sure you still had to use copy and paste to import a save/character into the second game even with vanilla BG.

no you did not. As long as you installed bg1 then bg2 into the suggested directory. You could then just open bg2 and any characters you had exported and saved or from your final saved game (the one it auto saves for you) could be imported without moving files around. Now any exported characters or final saved games completed prior to installing bg2 would having to be manually moved over to bg2 Now since i bought both games as a complete set, with both expansions an bonus materials, one on set of disks it could be they were just linked for that set. Either way, for BGEE to BG2 you have to manually move the files over :(

As @bigdogchris pointed out, despite Goblins not actually having the required strength to use composite longbows, they always did in BG2 Vanilla.

The bows off the goblins were actually the best moneymaker through all of chateau Irenicus.
