OK....are ALL Attack Per Round functions off since the last patch?

Is it just ranged or is everything screwy?

Just ranged as far as I can tell. And even with ranged weapons, I think it only affects weapons that can only be used in range (e.g. I think throwing axes still get proper APR).

@TJ_Hooker - here's the thing. I should get 3/2 attacks as a fighter with any weapon at level 7.

But when I use a weapon I have no prof points in I'm back to 1 attack per round.

I'm a Grandmaster so with my main weapon at level 10 (did the pits), I should have 3 attacks per round...not 5/2 total.

    I think something is off.
  • According to BGEE's Grandmastery table being a Grandmaster gives you 1 extra attack. Full stop. I know the Grandmastery Tweak from the BG2 Tweaks gives you 3/2 extra attacks. Maybe this is the source of your confusion?

Huh I don't know what's causing you to only get one attack per round with a weapon you're not proficient in at level 7.

    OK Grandmastery = 1 APR
    LEVEL 7+ 1 & 1/2 APR Base

OK that'd be 5/2...weird I dunno why I thought that was off...but should I get 3/2 with a base APR of 1/2 APR with weapons I'm not proficient in?
  • I'm not sure what's going on with the non-proficient weaponry. I have this vague idea that in the PnP rules you only got the extra Fighter attacks with weapons you are proficient in, but I could be making that up, and I didn't see it anywhere in the manual.

I can confirm that my Fighters are also only seeing 1 APR with non-proficient weapons, so it's not just you, but I can't remember if this is a new thing or not.

    @Kaigen

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to get your base attacks with any weapon type. But maybe not.

You may wish to give a go to the mod discussed here.

Swashbucklers are not getting a 1/2 attack from specialization. When I brought this up in the bug forums, I was told that it was supposed to be that way - that only fighters and fighter-ish classes (rangers, paladins) got APR from specialization. But
    1. This isn't mentioned anywhere in any documentation I can find
    2. Other than swashbucklers, only fighter classes can gain specialization. Why make such a rule seemingly expressly for the purpose of screwing with swashbucklers?

    Can anyone
    1. Clarify if this is a bug or
    2. Explain the reasoning behind such a rule?

Blades (Bard kit) can also specialise.

Windowed BG makes double-checking so much easier :D
And I just checked - not seeing specialization in any bard kits. Perhaps a mod?

@Cronatos - From the Mastering Melee and Magic manual:

"Note that Fighters, Rangers, Paladins, and Barbarians also gain an extra half-attack per round at 7th level in addition to the extra attacks from specialization. Non-warriors do not gain additional attacks based on specialization." - pg57

So it's not a bug then, just one of those nonsensical 2e things. I'm having a hard time seeing it as a balance thing.

You might have been thinking of Haer'Dalis, who has illegal specialization in 1 or 2 weapons.

It's mentioned in the game manual, as well as during character creation, in the proficiency selection screen, but only before you click on any proficiencies. But yeah, seeing as how it only applies to swashbucklers, I think it'd a good idea to just say in the kit description that they don't get extra attacks.
