Crashing for main game/ freezing within 5 seconds of Black Pits

Whenever I click the original game It always just gives me a crash error and then closes. When I click the Black pits I spent a lot of time getting 2 characters the stats I wanted for them in re rolls and then it froze and I exited out and tried again without creating characters and it did the same thing at the same spot after the woman says "Wait, wait!? What? Where are we?". Wondering if anyone knows how to fix these issues. I'm playing on a Mac but I'm running windows 7 on it, 8 gigs of ram. I'm also playing it through steam. Hope this info helps someone solve these issues :-X.

    as far as i know the steam version is very old and many fixes come after this version. But if the game crash, a dump0000.dmp file should be created in userdirectory\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\crash which you should upload.
