Poor Neera

It's meta-gaming at it's worst. I know she has that damn gem bag, and I want it. I could add her to my party, lift her stuff, and then dismiss her, but it's so much easier to just kill her.

It does feel a little weird to save her, and then kill her, but it's all about the gem bag.

I like the way you think.

I actually got 2 gem bags when i dismissed her from party and then got her back. It's some sort of bug because those 2 gem bags has the same inventory meaning that i can access the same "gem bag container space" from 2 separate characters if they have those bags in their inventory.

Is it possible to pick pocket it?

    Neera stole it first.

I tried once, but I can't remember whether I was unsuccessful on the pick pocket, or whether it said she had no items. The problem is, once you save her, she talks to you, and if you don't add her to your party, she buggers off pretty quick. I find it just as easy to stick her full of arrows as she try's to run off.

A mean person ... with a snazzy gem bag ... and a couple less arrows.

Well, I don't see anything wrong with it. That's what I do in RL.

To be fair, I do like Neera. I've had in my party a few times. She is both capable and entertaining. The last three games I've started though, I've been aiming for something different, so Neera had to die.

Looks like they should add the option to plainly rob her. You save her from the Thayan attack and get a dialogue option like

5:- Shut up and hand over your purse, you pesky brat, or I'll slit your throat.

    :S

I don't see any problem with briefly accepting her into the party just to take the gem bag. You've earned it by saving her life. But it would be nice if a dialogue option saved you the trouble.

If you don't have her join you, is it pickpocketable from her?
  • SirK8SirK8 Member Posts: 527
I would not feel bad for taking her gem bag after you "save" her. I tried to pick the dialogue options where CHARNAME didn't give a damn about her, but still ended up fighting to "save" her. So we took the bag (and everything else) as payment. She's lucky we left her alive.
  • Clearly, she owes you for saving her life.

Now what boggles me is why my reputation keeps dropping for killing peasants who don't fork over enough gold after I save them. Doesn't the game know they have it coming? I mean, you give Kylee a dagger and he just thanks you? Totally asking for a knifing.

Neera drags me into a fight I have nothing to do with and, depending on the dialogue options, know nothing about either. She attacks some random strangers who then turn hostile on me, even if I tell them I don't know that crazy bitch. Why in the world would she NOT owe me? She refuses to pay me in gold for saving her - from a fight she started - and instead offers to join me. So, Edwin does almost the same; he won't pay me in gold either, but he does give 102 gold when he joins. He pays me BEFORE I complete the task. Neera's bag is listed as 100 gold in most stores. Seems fair to me that it is now mine.
"Briefly accepting her into my party" is a metaphor for asking her to step into an alley, out of the guards' view, with us to then rob her.

It's also not really metagaming, as I can see she wears a robe that would look much better on my mage, and fights with a staff that he might want, too. That's what my robbery is about; getting the gem bag is an unexpected extra. "You got any gold or gems? No? I don't believe you, show me that bag. Well, you weren't lying... I'm keeping the bag then, too."
  • Eh, she doesn't drag you into the fight so much as ask you for help right as the Red Wizards arrive. After that, it's all on the Red Wizards for not taking "I don't care, I'm not getting involved" as an answer. They're the ones starting the fight, and nobody's stopping you from walking away except them.

Speaking of which, remind me to strip Dorn naked and leave him outside Nashkel as repayment for my help with getting his revenge.

Neera makes Ekandor disappear. I would consider that as "starting a fight".

Also, if I get there with Edwin in my party, the Red Wizards *are* about to leave me in peace, until Neera attacks them. If I tell Ekandor he can take her, he says something along the lines of "you should have seen my point right away, now step aside". Then Neera zaps him and things go to hell.

Also, remember to strip Dorn naked and leave him outside Nashkel as repayment for helping him getting revenge.

rather than killing her as she leaves, let her leave. doesn't she go to FAI anyway? which you have to go to sooner or later to complete Landrin's spider quest. go back and pickpocket Neera when you're there

What conditions must be met for Neera to appear in Beregost? I have a save after completing the Nashkel mines quest at 8 days, with CHARNAME and Imoen in Beregost, and she hasn't appeared at that point. (My next archived save is at 16 days and I have her after having picked up Viconia and Rasaad.)

Is the trigger something like x number of days? Nashkel mines + x number of days?

I guess I could just CLUA her, but I want to test something according to how she appears naturally. Maybe the same scripts will fire if I CLUA her, though.

odder is that the whole world knows of your wrongdoings, even when hidden in a locked house.
Skyrim was more realistic on that respect: kill every last witness, even if it means slaughtering the entire town, and then your bounty goes away. No one left to report what you did. In BG... are we self-reporting our crimes?

Who needs a Chaotic Neutral girl in his party ?
    With only 4 HP/Level ?
With a very akward fashion of casting spells ?

    Nobody.

Best solution is indeed to take the gem purse, her staff+1 and mage robe, and kick her out of the party.

Edwin and Baeloth will make better use of all these items.
  • KidCarnivalKidCarnival Member Posts: 3,747
Baeloth has 50 % magic resistance... Doesn't that mean his risk to get fire damaged by the staff is lower than the staff's (previous) owner?

Looks like you can't pickpocket her right before she leaves, when you decline her offer to join you.

With Garrick at Pickpocket 45 he failed in several attempts to lift her gem bag. (I got the "Pickpocket failed" message.) Ditto with one try after taking a potion of master thievery, which put his pickpocketing skill at 85. When I set his pickpocketing skill to 125 with another potion I got the "target has no items" message.

And checking again at FAI after she heads up there, there too I get the message "target has no items."

Well, we can't help but brag endlessly about our slaughters and decorate our gear with hands, ears, teeth and other trophies taken from our victims... :P

For me, she always appeared the first time I went to Beregost, before completing the mines. Perhaps completing the mines causes her to disappear, like Khalid and Jaheira?

Me too. I've never played without finding her before the mines, so I can't comment on her disappearing afterwards.
