Problem with steam version multiplayer

When hosting a game my friend can join, however when one of us creates a character we are kicked from the game, also i'm the only one who can host the game if she tries to host it will just say joinung server forever, any help would be appreciated

    yeah we both are using the same version but thank you for commenting =)
