New Sorcerer Question (spoilers all over the place)

Just picked up dirty B in Larswood, wanted to kill him but since it gave no Xp I took him in my group. Is he worth it? Any significant interactions or quests?
Currently running:

Imoen dialed at 3 to mage

  • He has some commentary that will trigger when you enter certain places, but I didn't see any quests or major interactions.

He's worth it because he's an amazing spellcaster, easily superior to Dynaheir who is in your party. He doesn't seem to care about reputation at the moment, so good parties and evil parties alike can take him with no micro-management. Questwise, not at the moment. He does have a little commentary with Edwin and Viconia, and a few interactions in Baldurs Gate, but nothing major at the moment.

In my opinion he was a bit overpowered and comical . I mean, funny characters are cool, but both him and Neera seem to be more goofy than mad or chaotic.

Considering his previous job, I can see the madness and chaos. Other than that - yeah, very worth it, borderline-overpowered. Magic resistance, comes with robe of evil arch magi, good voice set, and doesn't comment on reputation at all. Which makes him superior to Dynaheir in every way (except you can't pick all his spells like a mage's, but he has a decent selection).

He is an eastern egg and not really fully fledged NPC on the scale the other three are. I doubt you'll see any more of him until BG2 where he might make a cameo appearance.

I like his voice set, he's a good caster and it's fun to damage him with his own ring. Also, I loved that "Die Drow!" was a dialogue option during the entire exchange with him when you first meet him. Sounds like you have room for him in your party, so I'd take him. If you are limiting yourself to 4 party members, dump Dynaheir.
