Wizards shapeshfted as flind are not proficient in Halberds

That means they get a huge THACO penality.

Expected Behaviour :
The Wizard should be able to use the Halberd without penality.

I can actually see an argument for there being a THAC0 penalty while in flind form if the caster does not have the halberd proficiency while in human form. A weapon proficiency is a learned skill and Polymorth Self is not supposed to change "mental attributes".

In the PnP game Polymorth Self definitely wouldn't give the caster a weapon proficiency. That said, the PnP version varies in a number of ways from that in BG. The BG version has a much more limited number of forms compared to the PnP version, but unlike PnP it does allow the caster to use the new form's special attacks and defences (e.g. the mustard jelly's slow attack) and conjures magical weapons out of thin air (the flind's halberd). The BG version could perhaps be seen as a specialised version of the standard spell.

Do you know if there is any indication in the code as to what was the original developer intent re the flind form's weapon proficiency?
