I would like to start of with saying I am VERY pleased with BGEE. I think they did an excellent job and made the game that much more enjoyable.
I have very, very few issues with BGEE. and with that out of the way...
.:Racial Enemy and Redistributing pips:.
In BG2EE will we get to redistribute pips and choose a new racial enemy? I ask because originally when you import to BG2, you get to do all of that fun stuff over, including picking up a kit in your class if you wish. And not all of the racial enemies that we get to choose from in BG2 are available in BGEE. Minsc's racial enemy changes from Gnolls to Vampires I believe. Obviously I know that since those were not available in BG1 that is WHY you get to choose that. I get that.
.:Weapon Profiency - Specific Weapon Vs. General Weapon Type:.
I feel having the general proficiency categories as LARGE SWORDS, BOWS, BLUNT WEAPONS, etc. better fits the game as in BG1. I say this because there are not that many great weapon choices for each individual weapon as there are in BG2. It allowed you to take advantage of the limited magical weapons in each class so you didnt have to pick one specific weapon like longsword opposed to bastard sword. And for first time players, it makes it MUCH easier in picking a weapon type instead of having to look up what weapons are available or will be available for each individual weapon and choosing that way. Not a fan of having weapon style proficiency in BG1 either.
I'm not saying this to make the game easier by any means. I just feel this is a better fir for BG1. any thoughts?
Also, If you are planning on playing through the entire EE series you have to think in terms of both games if you cannot redistribute pips.

I am somewhat nostalgic, I rather liked the original BG1 proficieny system although I cannot envisage them changing it now.
I completely loved the original BG1 proficiency system.
It allowed me to be a Fighter with 3 in Large swords and 3 in Bows. Go around with the Deadshot and spiders bane for the most part. Got to use the doppelganger bastard sword and baldurans sword, along with varoscona until I got a good Two-handed. and then completely disregard bows going into the next game going dual wielding longswords because ranged weapon are pretty irrelevant in BG2. and picking up the Berserker Kit like nothing ever happened.
