durlag's tower, return for level 4 to 3?

I'm in durlag's tower --first time I ever played BG1-- and went through the 4 elements and the chess game and now, I'm in level 4.
Learned that I missed a cavernous room that contained 15,000xp worth of wyverns!
I don't see how to get back to level 3, from level 4, or can I? ...looked like a one-way teleport from the chess board.

...on a wholly unrelated sidenote, but unworthy of its own thread, I seem to remember that BG2, which I DID play once before, years ago, had a lot of intercharacter dialogue that was fun. Disputes, or just chats. But in BG1EE, my party members NEVER speak to each other. Not once. Kindof boring actually. Or maybe only certain party members have discourse, and nothing was scripted for my particular party? (imoen, coran, neera, minsc, and branwen).
If that's the case, when I do BG2, who should I have in my party, to maximize interesting dialogue between them?

You'll soon reach a point where you can leave the dungeon (you don't have to finish it), allowing you to traverse it again starting from the ground floor. To return to the chess board and the areas beyond it, reenter one of the four elemental rooms.

BG1 NPCs hardly have any banters with each other, so that's normal.

Certainly there's much less inter-NPC dialogue than in BG2, but not *none*. For example, the OP has Coran in the party, whom I find quite often compliments female characters and sometimes even gets a response. There are also several pairings which bicker, and some who argue so much that they'll eventually fight and not continue in the same party together.

In my current run, I've been pleasantly surprised to see that Viconia regularly intervenes in Charname's discussions with Rasaad about his history and quest. This makes sense, since Rasaad's quest is against followers of Shar, but Viconia is a priestess of Shar so she naturally disagrees with him. Kudos to Beamdog for including this disagreement in the dialogues.

It may be worth mentioning that there is a mod for BGtutu and BGT, called BG1 NPC Project, that adds lot of banters and full romances in the style of BG2.

Currently it is not compatible with BGEE, but @cmorgan is working on it, so we just have to wait.

Yeah I've noticed that the orignal NPC's seem to interact with the dialogue of the new NPC's quite a bit, but not the other way around. Figured the contracts didn't explicitly cover these interjections.
