Level Limits

I can Not find any where that states the level limits for the PC races and classes for BG-EE. Can some one give me and others who would like the info a heads up on where to find out this info.' Maybe you could just post it here or on GameFAQ's.com I have been mostly using the old FAQs there for tips when I need to.

You know it's an experience cap not level limits, right? You can earn 161K experience, so that will be a different level for each class, multi-class, or dual-class combination.

And just to let you know, just about everything from old guides/FAQs should still be accurate, so you should be safe using an old guide that hasn't been updated for pretty much everything except the new content added in EE.

    161K xp means:

Level 8 for Fighters, Barbarians, Paladins and Rangers
Level 9 for Mages and Sorcerers
Level 8 for Clerics and Monks
Level 10 for Druids, Thieves and Bards

Info taken from page 140 of the game's Mastering Melee and Magic .pdf manual.

I did not see that when reading that pdf. The problem with pdfs is you can skip a page and never know it.
I might as well add this question also. I have not gone back to the PDF yet. What about Level Limits for Multi classes such as a Mage/Thief?

It's still limited by the 161k xp cap. So, while a mage could reach level 9 and a thief could reach level 10, a multiclass M/T could get to level 7 mage/8 thief.

http://playithardcore.com/pihwiki/index.php?title=Baldur's_Gate provides some nice tables and such for you to consult with these questions.

Thanks actDave, I have gotten into the bad habit of swapping those terms around and guess I should not do that. I have been playing D&D since the 70's. Before it even had Editions. I have junk in my head from every edition since then. Same goes with all the PC, D&D games as well.

While you're asking about this, @kavake, note that if you play the Black Pits then the limit is different: in BP it's an actual level limit, level 10 for all classes, not an XP limit like the main game.

It's still an XP cap, just most of them allow a single class to hit 10 (11 for Druids or Multiclass F/D), and at least one class in a duo-multi to hit 10, if it's not part cleric. Dual-classes though screw it up and can't hit 10 at all since the XP cap is set the minimum to reach level 10 in a single class, and the xp spent in the first class counts against it (the xp cap swaps to the cap for the 2nd class when dualed).

Personally I like this page for reference:http://www.planetbaldursgate.com/bg/character/classes/tables/xp.shtml

It has a quick breakdown of levels at the cap including multiclass levels which is pretty useful.

Oh I didn't mean to sound all venomous or anything, was just citing my source. I'm not a huge fan of .pdf manuals myself; I miss the days when games came in -boxes- and had fully fleshed-out manuals filled with lore and whatnot. Now we're lucky if we get manuals at all and then it's often just 5 pages explaining how to (un)install the game, otherwise we're often stuck with a .pdf in black, white and grey that only has the most basic details.

Not like they had much choice with BG:EE, being a digital release only and all. That said, kudos to Overhaul for redoing, as far as I can tell, all of the original manual (in colour even) and updating it to being relevant. No lack of help to be found in this community either :)

Hey Silverstar, No Problem. I know where your coming from. What manuals I might still have are in plastic boxes in the Garage. Hope I can dig them out someday. But they are buried under other stuff as well and I have a bad back. Sadly my sons will not even help me dig them out. Have a good one. :-)
