Caster Level and Dual Class

Hello,

Does anyone know how caster level interacts with dual class? Do spells that check caster level only check the level you were in the class that allowed you to cast the spell? Or is it the highest level you have in any class?

For example I was thinking a Priest of Helm 3 to Fighter Dual might be cool. You would have Seeking Sword and Draw Upon Holy Might for free sort of, but would be a lot better if they didn't last for 3 rounds or only give +1 to the stats respectively.

I'm on iPad so I don't know if there's a way for me to use the console that is often mentioned to test this stuff out myself easily?

Thanks!

It's based on the level of the class in question. So if you dual the priest as level 3, then all his spells are locked to 3rd level power, no matter how strong your fighter gets.

As Chow said, it should always be at the level of the casting class. I don't believe it's easy to open the consol on iPad, but the should be better info for that in the iPad section of the forum. Some files and saves can be manipulated through a program called iFunBox which isn't too bad (hey, if I can figure it out anyone can...), but that does require a PC (or Windows Mac) to do much.

On the bright side most priest level 1 spells are not level dependent anyway and the same is true for several level 2 spells (including Chant, Charm, Find Traps, & Slow poison).
