New cave or have I just missed it all these years? (spoilers)

Ok so I just found a cave on the ogre map SE of Beregost (+1 great sword) that I have never noticed before - it contained an ettercap and of course a web trap and a cabinet to loot a couple potions and gold from - is this new for BGEE?

The entrance is not very obvious - if I had not inadvertantly moused over it and seen the "door icon" I would have missed it (again?)

Is that the mine exit map? As far as I remember, there were always 4 entrances/caves, 1 being the mine exit. Ettercap and trap sounds familiar, but a cabinet doesn't. What area code is that?

If its from the map north east of nashkel and you got the sword from the ogres near to the entrance to the cave no its not new.

You can always go to dudleyville and verify for yourself.

Thats what I love about BG - 14 years and still finding stuff I haven't seen yet (no doubt in part becuase I never use walkthroughs to find stuff I might have missed)

I envy you. Enjoying the game and see what you find, instead of reading where stuff are and then go get it in order to be as powerful as possible, as soon as possible. Sadly I am one of those, but it took me a couple of years so I had some playthroughs where things were new and unexpected.

I am somewhere in the middle. I like wandering around and exploring for the sake of finding new stuff. But if I know something exists, or if I am told to go some place and I can't find it, I get some help.

The Sewers under Baldur's Gate is one example. They don't seem to connect to the surface in any logical manner, so I always end up going out to dudleyville and checking.

Ditto. The sewers drive me nuts. It was searching for a sewers map that I discovered dudleyville.

They make NO sense. I went down the sewers outside of the (ahem...) a specific compound, expecting to find potentially a 'Secret' entrance to same just down the one tunnel. I end up in a different section of the city entirely.

I think that whoever linked them was drinking heavily. Either that or it is by design and the sewers are actually an extra dimensional space. maybe they are larger on the inside than they are on the outside?

The sewers of Baldurs gate are said to have been designed and built by drunken kobolds.

I believe the sewers were designed by one Bergholt Stuttley Johnson.
