Seriously, though. Great job. Interesting results
And I'm still curious as to what the 10% of people with "Other" combat style preferences are talking about.
@Madhax: I voted "other" combat style as a "all of above" option, since my favorite charname is a jester who is equally efficient in melee and ranged, casts both support and offensive and uses stealth. I couldn't say one of these categories is dominant in a playthrough. I would guess others voted for that for dual/multiclass charnames that fill more than one of the listed roles and "other" more means "two or more of above combined".
Other than that, this is good.
Neera is an additional mage, of which there were only three before (one of which is Dynaheir, who is paired). I like her better than the three existing mages, that's why I chose her. Imoen got my vote because she's always around and she's a great NPC with regards to the gameplay possibilities she offers. Maybe these explanations shed some light on why people may have chosen certain characters as their favourites.
I understand their cute eccentricities are the sort of things that often don't play well with more "serious" gamers, but I think for many of us they are exactly the sort of mood we like best in our gaming experience. I regularly write for a television show's fan site, and it is consistently true that the light comic relief characters are less popular with the very serious core fans, while those same characters score most popular with more casual viewers. I can only guess that this is a similar phenomena; although this time I line up with the more relaxed group!
Edit: Oh you had posted it to other forums too. Makes sense now, if anything that number is kinda high then.
also as some one who only knows rule sets from video games is there a massive differance between
3 and 3.5? cus theres a massive differance in votes between the 2 rule sets.
Faldorn is not a bad character, being a single class druid who can hit level 10 in the original game, but by the time you get her, you probably got someone else filling her slot. Same for Eldoth, Skie, Alora and Tiax (who gets more votes on account of ruling all).
Alas!
If only they'd been placed in a more accessable place. Doesn't a tweak mod do that?
Couple reasons for that, first of all obviously those who you meet have the advantage of you just needing someone to fill up your party slots. Second reason is that BG1 NPC really aren't that different from each other, they don't have same kind of extensive banter like BG2. Also BG1 really isn't so hard that you would need to somehow minmax your party class composition. Third reason for me is BG2, it's more fun having an NPC that you know you can continue with in BG2, or who at least makes an appearance in it.
