Any plans for more portraits / soundsets as future DLC?

Just curious....

Working soundsets would indeed be nice, but I don't see the need for portraits. There are so many portraits and archives for those, it's pointless to make them DLC.

Or how about scratch DLC, and just make them part of a patch... The number of sound sets seems to be lacking a bit imo

Indeed. Just fixing the issues with custom soundsets would already help, though there are aren't as many soundsets around (compared to the millions of portraits). And that's clearly something that should happen in a patch, before considering any DLC.

I can't recall exactly, but I'm sure there was a hint from those involved that there may be more portraits. Though I could be wrong and the comments were just related to the extra portraits already included.

I disagree. Many people have expressed a desire to see more in the style of the artist they used for the new portraits already included in BG:EE. Not to mention though you can find some fantasy art or custom portraits in the BG community, a lot of it just isn't of great quality. I think people want something more professional than a lot of the bad shop jobs that seem to be out there.

I'd pay for sound sets that weren't so generic.

If you think that most fantasy art isn't of "great quality", you are probably looking in the wrong places. There is bad quality of everything somewhere, but also really good stuff. A lot of it is for free and offered by other fans. I'd rather see DLC I can't get on every corner. Doesn't even have to be very complex or big - for example, I'd like other color versions of some items (i.e. green/black robe of arch magi). While there are cosmetic mods, there aren't nearly as many as portraits, so those items have a certain rarity appeal as DLC. Same for sound sets - most fans are simply no voice actors, hence there are by far less original voicesets than portraits.
I wouldn't mind a DLC package that includes some portraits, some voices, some something else, but I certainly wouldn't pay for portraits alone. Voicesets without anything else, on the other hand, most certainly.

I wasn't talking about fantasy art in general, but the fan made efforts from the BG community. Not the fantasy art people have taken from other properties around the net (which I tend not to use myself because there's few that I feel really fit in BG).

If you yourself just want soundsets over portraits, then that's fine. I'm just saying there's others who wouldn't mind portraits alongside other DLC (be it in separate packs or together etc).

@redguard. There are a number of pretty fantastic looking portraits out there that fit the look of bg. More so than some of the ones that were just released with the game imho. Have you had a look at the portrait drop box? Some are average but there are some gems in there.

Soundsets are harder to create than portraits, and i cant say i have heard any outstanding fan made ones. Maybe i havent looked(listened)hard enough. Having said that the only quality fanmade sound effects, music with vocals i have heard was from a mod for Rome Total War called EUropa Barbororum. This was due to the fact that they had acess to a recording studio and a large team, which most modders dont.

Quality soundsets i would rate higher than portraits at the moment due to the ratio of quality soundsets to quality portraits.

WORKING custom soundsets should be the priority for customising your characters as this is getting ridiculous the amount of time that has passed and they still dont work.

@certus Calm down. I'm not by any means arguing against soundsets. Just giving an opinion about portraits.

As an iPad user I'd like more portraits, or at least the ability to easily import portraits without having to jailbreak or whatever it's called.

I just overwrite the defaults on iPad, which works relatively well since I tend to use artastrophe's portrait collection to replace all the defaults.

Yeah I have no idea how to do that.

More portraits are always good, especially ones of a consistent style. Custom portraiting takes some effort, especially if your standards are high. Same thing for soundsets. I think this cosmetic stuff is exactly what DLC should entail, not story-related elements or even adventures that are important for the plot.

I don't see how more of anything can be a bad thing. A lot of people seem to have this "they should concentrate on other things" attitude. However in this example it wouldn't ge taking time away from anything. The coders aren't doing the art after all.
