How do I add Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition to Steam?

I bought BG:EE a few days after it came out, and I got it through Beamdog. Is it possible to register my copy of BG:EE on Steam, or do I have to buy a Steam copy if I want it through that platform?

For the moment at least, you need to purchase the game through Steam in order to keep in in your Steam account.

You can, however, add it to your local Steam library. Follow these steps:

1) In the Steam browser window, select the "View" drop-down, and choose "Games List".
2) At the bottom left corner of the window, click "Add Game", and select "Add a Non-Steam Game"
3) Select Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition from the list, and click "Add Selected Programs" (it should show up automatically)

And that's it; you should be able to launch the game directly from your Steam library; and you'll also still be able to play it offline normally. You won't be able to install patches or reinstall the game from the Steam client, however.
