More specific race descriptions

RavelRavel Member Posts: 140
My suggestion is just to rewrite the way the racial bonuses are described to be more specific.

For example, instead of just saying gnomes "have natural resistance to magic", I would keep "have natural resistance to magic" in the more general race description, but later clarify exactly how much magic resistance they have.

I'd like to preserve the more casual descriptions of the classes, while giving us additional details for those interested in exact numbers. I think it would also help those who are experiencing Baldur's Gate for the first time through the Enhanced Edition.

Agreed, more detail in descriptions is always useful IMO

Yeah, both class/kit descriptions and race descriptions could use some more info.

It would be ok if the detail given is something similar to Neverwinter Nights from this perspective (which attribute gets a bonus, how much health a class gets, THAC0 progression, lore, weapon proficiency...)
It would make also new people to the game much more comfortable while playing it.

Yeah. In my first draft of the OP, I said to make it more like NWN..., but knowing how deep IP-loyalty can burn, I didn't want people who disliked NWN to be off-put by the idea.

I really liked how they had every race modifier laid out after a brief description of the race and its history.

    It would help for sure.

My first thought was, "They should also put in some kind of back story for each race, as to how say, a dwarf, would end up at Candlekeep." But then, I don't want the dev to dictate who my character is. I dunno, I'm torn. I think it might be nice though, give the race some here-and-now color, if you will.

I really think the game needs to have better descriptions for stats, classes, and races.
