Multi class fighter/mages get no bonus spells from int?

Is that normal? I'd imagine that makes Int less important to Fighter mages consdering Int Doesnt determine how high a level of spell you can cast..

    Int determines:
    - Chance to learn a new spell
    - Maximum number of spells learned per spell-level

Int does not give anyone bonus spells in 2e.

So it is important, just not in the same way that Wis is important to a Cleric.

Like every score, it does matter more in PNP 2E. Intelligence will affect the number of languages and/or non-weapon proficiencies you can have. And very high Intelligence will give you immunity to certain types of Illusion spells.

But as Nifft mentions, it's implimentation in BG is a little more limited.

    Intelligence also increases lore.

Basically what @Nifft said. Intelligence over 19 in the BG games is pretty much overkill and superfluous. You don't gain much but 1% better chance to memorize spells, some lore boosts, and maybe the ability to take an extra hit from an illithid.

I'm currently playing a Blade with only 13 Int (as I wanted 18 Str and Dex and had to make sacrifices somewhere), it's manageable, but in order to have a reasonable chance of scribing scrolls without wasting a load I do batch scroll scribing sessions after glugging two potions of genius. A "real" mage would probably want more than 9 spells in their book/level, though, so is likely to need 15+ Int (11 or more spells in your book/level).

Mre importantly. Int determines the maximum level of spells yuo can cast. 18 int is needed for top level spells. In bg 1 it is not much of a problem, as ypu can cast anything beyond five level, but in bg 2 is a must having at least 18. Or thta part was never implemented in bg?

Not implemented in BG. Even with minimum INT you can cast lvl9 spells. All INT changes is spell learn chance and maximum number of spells known (KNOWN, not castable!).

    It wasn't implemented, sadly

BTW you need a minimum of 9 Int to be able to cast from scrolls

just an FYI, Wis bonus is for Priest only. Rng and Pal do not receive the bonus spells from Wis.

Wasn't there something about mages not being able to cast at all if they fall below 9 INT? I do seem recall something...

To summarize what Int does ;)

    General:
    1) increases Lore
    2) Int 9 or above allows casting from some 'for general use' scrolls and wands
    3) Illithids drain your Int (if any stat is zero you're dead); so more Int = good vs them

    Mages:
    1) higher Int allows for more spells to scribe to your spellbook (>18 Int = unlimited)
    2) higher Int increases your chance to successfully scribe a spell to your spellbook

    What Int doesn't do:
    1) more spells per day like Wis
    2) limit your spellcasting as per PnP (higher Int needed for higher level spell casting)
    3) granting a bonus vs Illusion spells as per PnP
