Dual classing information

Just to make sure I got it right...

It's possible to dual class a generalist and a kit. So I can make a swashbuckler and then dual class into a fighter.
It's impossible to dual class 2 kits. So I can't make a berserker and then dual class it into an assassin.
If you dual class a thief into a fighter, you keep the thief abilities and will be able to access epic rogue specialization of ToB

It's impossible to multi-class any specialized kit. You can only multi-class generalist.

Did I got it right?

Unless you dual after your first class is eligible for HLAs, you won't get any from that pool.

Gnomes can multiclass as illusionists, but they can't be any other mage type, including generalists.

    Other stuff is correct.

Yes to points 1 and 4. Point 2 is mostly accurate, but I'll add that you cannot dual to a kit regardless of whether or not your first class is a kit. For point 3, I'm guessing you're talking about High Level Abilities? For dual classes, you only get HLAs in the class which you are currently advancing in, so in your example you would only have access to fighter HLAs.

To clarify, you can't dual TO a kit under any circumstances. You can be a swashbuckler->fighter, but you can't do fighter->swashbuckler. And if you dual as a swashbuckler into a fighter, you'll only access fighter HLAs in ToB, unless you somehow dual after reaching 3 million XP as a swashbuckler, but that's a pretty harsh downtime for not much upside.

When your fighter level is 1 higher than your thief level, you'll get your thief abilities back.

Will I be able to wear thief restricted armor anew?. I was wearing the deep-night leather armor before dual classing. Will I be able to wear it again when my warrior level get high enough?

Pure-classed Fighters can wear just about any type of armor except robes and class-restricted items. So yes, you can wear it, and no, you don't need to hit a certain level before you can wear it.

The only armor off the top of my head that a fighter can't wear (and a thief could) is Shadow Armor. So no, the moment you dual to fighter and until you surpass the thief in levels, you won't be able to wear that. Once you regain your thief levels though, you'll be able to wear it again.

Something I found out: if you level a thief past 3.000.000xp and pick the Use Any Item HLA, then dual-class, you will KEEP Use Any Item even while your thief levels are inactive. I believe this is due to how the skill works with the engine, rather than being intended - though I suppose it makes sense that once you figure out how to use anything, you don't suddenly forget it when you switch careers....

You could kinda get around this by dualling during combat (which makes armor unremovable). That way the armor stays on you so long as you don't ever remove it. I accidentally did this when dualling Xzar to Cleric, and he had his robe still on.

@Ninthbox, since you're wearing the Armor of the Deep Night, obviously you're playing BG2 rather than BG1 or BGee. However, the same rules apply. IIRC, that armor works like Shadow Armor in BG1/BGee: when you dual to Fighter you won't be able to wear it for a while, but when you get your Thief abilities back (i.e. when Fighter Level > Thief Level) then you can wear it again.

Nah, despite it's thiefy/stealthy sounding name, the Armor of the Deep Night does not provide a bonus to stealth like Shadow Armour, nor is it restricted to thieves. So dualling to a fighter won't affect your ability to wear it.
