Improved Jesters!

Apologies, if this has been noted, but this is a huge thing for me...Improved Jester FTW!

This is an "Enhancement" right? 1st lvl: save vs spells +2 or be confused. 15th: save vs or be confused and save vs or be slowed 20th: save vs or be confused and save vs or be slowed and save vs or be knocked unconcious

This is amazing, Jesters always got a rum deal with the Enhanced Bard Song HLA, but this keeps them relevant. can't wait to start one now

also Totemics get spirit animals that level with them: 1HD for lvl 1 up to 10HD at lvl 10.

well done Overhaul, this is sort of thing that BGEE needed, those loving little tweaks that brings some kits out from the cold

hate to bomb this thread but

the radius on bard songs is still laughable - and they don't even tell you how horrific the radius really is

i don't think it really matters as the radius is completely mobile, it's not like a one time cast, it's a constant effect where enemies save once a round.

isn't it the same radius as a bard's regular song anyway? all this kit needs now is for HLA bard song to be an optional song (right click the icon to choose) rather than a overwrite and i think the jester moves into the awesome category

I thin the radius of the Jesters song is different from the Skald song. The main change made from BG2 is that the save penalty is now only +2 instead of +4 - they always got the level 15 and level 20 songs in the later BG2 patches. One Warning - if you take the Improved Bard Song HLA this completely *replaces* the Jester's own song.

okay so this thread is less of an announcement than a statement of the obvious...but the Totemic thing is new right? right?

Well the +2 penalty for Jester's song instead of +4 is new and pretty significant

Am not sure about the Totemic thing, the only Druid kit I've played is an Avenger

@oxford_guy and the penalty shift from +4 to +2 makes it easier or more difficult for the enemy to save?

It makes it more difficult for the enemy to save i.e. it's improved the Jester song

Combine with Doom, Glitterdust and later Greater Malison for even more effect

Also, don't foget that you can sing Jester song whilst invisible...

...which makes the radius irrelevant. A singing invisible jester can move around between enemies without a risk, assuming your thief scouted ahead and made sure all traps in the area are disarmed.

I'd never play a jester myself and kinda feared this applied to other people as well. Looks to be an amusing kit though and it's good to see EE has made it more enjoyable for the ones that do use it. Some invisible guy singing from who knows where, I can see how that would indeed cause confusion :)

They're fun for something different, but I think are likely to play better in BGEE and perhaps the SoA part of BG2, but will struggle in ToB

I never could get into large parties that much. Im currently playing as a party of 2 in bgEE and its been the most fun. I took the advice of these boards and am enjoying the experience. A party of 2 can be extremely strategic for my taste, especially for bard songs. I use a super tank for defense and my bard with ranged weapons for offense. SInce I am a skald, I have many things to use for tactics, especially when doing melee. I can shoot off a few shots in 1st round, then while the enemy is approaching, I can pause, turn on bard song which will take affect on Kivan who is in melee range. He gets a boost of 2 Ac 2 hit/damage which he then uses to take down the next enemy before I go on another ranged offensive. Im hoping that when done I can try a jester in the future.
