OSX 10.8.2 : Retina MBP not always reverting to correct resolution when exiting game

I have been having issues on my 15" Retina MBP. About half of the time when exiting the game my OS does not seem to adjust back to the "best" resolution -- everything on the desktop looks pixelated as if it is being upscaled. Same goes for the menu bar at the top of the screen and OSX notifications. The only way I've been able to fix this once it happens is to reboot the laptop.
I use GFXCardStatus (v2.3) to force the MBP to use the NVidia GPU before playing, as I've had issues (in both BG:EE as well as other games) with the card not always switching away from the Intel GPU.
I am current on my OS (10.8.2) as well as any software updates for the OS and BG:EE.
A search of the forums (using the keyword "Retina") did not yield any results similar to the problem I'm having.
