Here's a breakdown of all the journal bugs involved with the Amnish Soldiers in regards to "The Tale of Captain Brage" quest.

1) This conversation:



Gives you this Journal Entry:



Fix: It should not give you a basic journal entry. It should populate to the "Tale of Captain Brage" quest entry instead.



2) This conversation:



Gives you this Quest Entry:



Fix: This is the Quest Entry you should get for the conversation found in item number 1. In the original game, the conversation about the woods granted no journal entry at all (and certainly not one concerning Brage).
