What happens in Dorn's First Encounter if you Ditch a Party Member?

If you have a full party of 6 when traveling to the Nashkel Mines and encountering Dorn, you can ditch someone there in the encounter screen. Where do they go? Do they vanish into the ether? Now if its Neera or Rasaad they'll head back to the FAI or Nashkel respectively, but I'm talking the old NPCs.

    Not necessarily, @HaHaCharade. If you go to and fro between
    the Carnival and the Mine, then you can find yourself on the same ambush map
    and find the NPC still standing there.

    I wonder if implementing a dialogue that makes you able to send NPCs to an inn would be considered out of Overhaul's/Atari/WotC contract bounds.

    I know there are mods that do that, but wouldn't it be nice to have it by default?
