[Request] Baldur's Gate 1 Class Stronghold or Class-related quests?

One of the best things in Baldur's Gate 2 for me personally were the class strongholds that you could literally own. A short series of sidequests which gives a nice background touch to the whole game, and also makes you feel more like an important person.

Now I do realize that requesting Class Strongholds in Baldur's Gate 1 could be exaggerated, since it should be a LOT of work with quests and such. But I have been thinking if it could be possible, or if else fails, at least some class related side quests. If I am not mistaken, the Thieves Guild in Baldur's Gate had some Thief related quests. I don't see why an area like Cloakwood 3 couldn't have druid related quests, or a mage would have quests with Ramazith or Ragefast.

The other idea is to make just one stronghold, for all classes. A place that works as a base of operation and in which you can send your NPCs to (similar to the Copper Coronet in Shadows of Amn and the Pocket Plane in Throne of Bhaal). I think it could add some great immersion to the game.

What are your thoughts on the subject?

Stronghold quests were indeed a lot of fun, though I'd say something similar in BG1 would have to be toned down, or take a "less grand" form. In BG1 you don't really have the prestige or character strength to own a similar stronghold.

Class sidequests in general, though, could be great.

Class sidequests would be cool, but strongholds would feel like too much of an effort to replicate BG2. The thing that makes BG1 it's own game is the quaintness and modesty of the protagonists beginnings.

Yea class quests would be fantastic but stronghold not so much, perhaps instead of a stronghold a class specific über gift?

That makes me think about something that bothered me with BG2. I'm fairly certain that the monk must have been introduced in Baldur's Gate II TOB right? (I always forget) Because in my personal opinion, it really makes no sense for the Monk to get the castle. If they can go back and add things, perhaps they could add an extra area and stronghold for the Monk, where they can become a grandmaster of a monastery of some sort.

But I can wholeheartedly agree that, some class related quests would be quite welcome in the 1st Baldur's Gate, as it encourages you to play the game with different kinds of characters. I would especially love one for bards. :D

After reading the comments I do agree that a stronghold would be kind of a big thing for a tiny character like the Bhaalspawn is in Baldur's Gate 1. Besides, it would also be the perfect opportunity for Sarevok to throw waves of goons at you XD

I still fancy the idea of class related side quests though.

@MooseChangerPat : Monk was added in Shadows of Amn already. I think the only ToB class(es?) are Wild mage and Sorcerer, but I might be wrong on the Sorcerer (definitely sure for Wild Mage). Never knew why Monk was considered a fighter both stronghold and High Level Ability wise. (when meeting Balthazar, you wonder why your monk is so puny in comparison to him that is able to make people fly through the place with a kick)

    @Cheesebelly

I believe Wild Mage was the only new kit added with ToB.

Exactly, sorcerer has already been there in the SoA, but the idea of the monk being a new protector of a fortress have always bothered me a bit ;)

Class-based quests I would love, something similar to the Narlen Darkwalk quests. I would prefer to become a member of something rather than gain a stronghold (that is a bit high level for BG1). I've mentioned this before but I would love to become Thalantyr's apprentice or join one of the Temples, or join one of the Druid factions in Cloaakwood. IMO it would really give you a stake in the Sword Coast and make the prevention of war with Amn more personal.

Class-related quest are perfectly fine, but if I may state my opinion about stronghbolds... small house in Beregost or Naskheel is the most you can expect from BG1 standards.

Class-related quests and the like would really help immersion.

The problem with strongholds, however, is that they're an application of AD&D 2E's rules for advanced characters. Fighters got castles with a contingent of knights (partially to help combat the wizard power creep, which was noticeable even in 2E), Priests got temples, Rogues got Thieves' Guilds, and so on.

If they added strongholds in Baldur's Gate it would be way too early from a level standpoint. As Arinoch said, you don't have the prestige or level to be entitled to a stronghold.
