Halfling slinger as a restricted archer kit, or non-ranger archer as fighter kit

I find it a pity that the only archer kit is linked to the ranger class and as such, also to human and elf races. I would love to have more options to choose from as non-caster ranged attack specialist, like a halfling slinger or a sharpshooter that could be a more urban form of the archer...

1) an additional "generic archer type" (let's call this the marksman kit for now) linked to fighter class instead of ranger class, with similar archery advantage of hit/damage bonus per 3 levels, but no stealth and no divine spells nor other ranger advantages. Instead of those advantages, the marksman could get melee limitation at weapon specialization (2slots) instead of just proficiency (1slot) like the archer, OR if we want to limit melee weapons like the archer to 1 slot only, we could think of some more urban advantages. Maybe a very limited set of thief skills, like the monk has, which are linked to urban settings, e.g. Open locks, OR maybe a limited set of arcane spells that enhance the marksmanship, like spells that increase accuracy or speed, or add fire damage to arrows or bolts.
The marksman could indeed be open for any race, any alignment, as the more urban or arcane instead of divine "version of the archer".
2) one or more race specific ranged fighter types, like we have in melee with the dwarven defender, could be nice as well. A dwarven axe thrower could be like the ranged version of a berserker, allowed grand mastery in throwing axes but just proficiency or specialization in any melee weapon. Berserker rage doesn't feel right with ranged attacks, so it could be replaced with some other battle frenzy like adding to APR for throwing axes. Of course such advantages should have some trade off in other areas like allowed armor or melee fighting.
The halfling slinger could be similar to marksman with sling or halfling specific advantages like called shot with other fun effects, or again, slightly different thief skill supplements as compared to the archer...
I know i am still not making things very specific, but i'd like to hear opinions on possible advantages and restrictions as well...
