Notes?

Alrighty, just curious what the random Notes I pick up every-so-often that lets me write them down, do? The only one I recall right now, is the one about the chair. I think I've found another before that let me write it down as well, but can't remember it.

Also, I'm not too far in. After I hit Nashkel, I generally go explore all the maps and do all the quests before heading to the Mines but, I don't mind spoilers so spoil away.

Thanks.

    They're plot-related.

Unless it's the chair one. You can sell that for a pretty penny.

Do I actually have to keep them, or can I just write them down and drop them? I better go pick the chair one back up real fast before it poofs. Thanks.

You can do whatever you want with them.

I've run through this game so many times I don't even bother to pick up notes anymore, since I know exactly what they say.

The only documents you need tell you in BIG IMPORTANT LETTERS that you should hang onto them.

The chair one is the only "note" you can sell. "Bounty notice" can be sold to some places (though, not for much), but "Letter" is usually just to trigger the next chapter when you pick them up (Nashkel Mines and Bandit Camp, for example). You can copy those to have the complete story in your journal, but there's no point in keeping them.

I "think" you mean the random notes that get copied into your journal as you travel. Basically, you overhear rumors or stories that either add flavor or quest lines to your story. You might hear about a guard captain that went crazy and started killing folks (for instance) and you can either track him down or consider it a rumor.

Basically that is the game's way of fleshing out the world and your adventuring experience. Imagine if you will that as you walk through town you overhear conversation snippets. You might hear about the Iron Throne doing such and such. You might hear about a guy and a girl who are having troubles with their relationship. All of this and more in some way enhances the story and game play.

    does that answer your question?

You can copy their contents into your journal in BGEE now and then just sell them

Thanks for answering everyone. I was mainly just curious about the Chair Note, as I've never seen it before in vanilla or Tutu. Even though I copied it into the journal ( haven't seen it in there though ) I'm more curious about it because well, it's just random.

I think they must have upped the drop rate for the chair note in EE, since I never saw it in vanilla either, but have found it 2-3 times in EE.

Okay, another question. Several ( if not all, going off the ones I use the most ) characters have some 'new' voiced dialogue. I'm going to assume that they didn't re-hire the voice cast to spout a couple of lines, but were these lines already in the game, and just seldom ( if ever ) heard? Some of the stuff they're saying I've never heard before, and I've done a good 20 or so runs through the game over the years.

I think there was a lot of dialogue that didn't trigger due to bugs that Overhaul got working, which is probably what you're thinking of. You are correct that they did not rehire the voice actors. :)

    @Eudaemonium

That's what I figured. For the first time ever, I finally heard Imoen's plugtail line people talk about sometimes. Viconia also said something new, but I forgot ironically, as she's my numero uno.

She can't be that much of your numero uno if you don't even remember the things she says. XP

I know. Believe me, I feel awful about it.

All the "rare" lines seem to trigger more often. My "numero uno" (NPC I have in majority of my runs) Edwin, for example, maybe said the mouse magic line once or twice a run in vanilla. Now it's at least once per chapter. I also can't remember Kagain commenting so much on the enviroment (forest, underground); now he does all the time.

I get annoyed that Dorn, Neera, Rasaad and Mr Spoiler don't have rare lines. I thought it added a certain charm to the characters.

"Rare" select dialogue occurs on every 10th order issued to a character. It's noticeable on EE characters and Main Character Voice since they don't have Rare Select and simply play no sound when they come up.

Maybe they'll add them in a future patch/BG2EE.
