Baldur's gate enhanced edition slow movement

The game itself runs just fine. I can see everything, hear everything, its not glitchy or lagging. The problem is that all characters (Mine and NPCs) attack, move and cast very slowly. Cut scenes and dialogue go at regular speed and so do sound effects, but it takes a level 3 jaheira up to a minute to cast 1 spell!!!! Now from what I've played of this game it looks like it would be really fun, except for the fact that it takes up to 5 minutes to kill 3 Xert.

Windows 7 64 bit
i7 2620 @ 2.7p GHz
8 gigs ram
nvidia 9700m gt

I have tried the suggestions in this page

and none have helped at all. I was wondering if there was a patch, cheat, mod anything that can help to make this game playable?

    That is a very old video card you have, and I am guessing it is a lap top that shares Vram and system ram.
